My topic was the California gold rush. If you don’t know the California gold rush was when a man named James W. Marshall found gold at sutters mill and once there word got out that it was gold in California people from every where started traveling to California. People from eastern states and even different countries. And this is why I think the California gold rush was a turning point in USA because from people wanted to come to California so desperately it improved transportation and started the big immigration time period. I choose to do my project California gold rush because my favorite football team is the San Francisco 49ers and when I found out these two subjects connected in some ways I wanted to learn more. Also I choose it because when my teacher presented this idea of doing my project to me I thought it was interesting and could help me learn about something different. How I conducted my research was reading books and surfing the web for information. I also spent some time with the librarian Toni searching for books that could help me with my project. I conducted my research this way because I felt that it would help me get the best grade that I could get by reading books about my topic and finding great websites to learn from. This is a turning point because before the gold rush trains weren’t that advanced. And when people found out about gold in California they started improving trains so that they were able to get to California without any trouble. Also why it’s a turning point because it started the big immigration session. When the people over seas heard about gold they wanted to have the chance to find it to so they began improving ships so they could make the trip easy. They also figured out techniques to find fold that people still used today. So I guess what i'm saying is that it’s a turning point because it improved transportation, mining and people gained many tactics and techniques from the gold rush.
